Where is Eben im Pongau?
The town Eben im Pongau is located in the federal state of Salzburg, Austria. The federal capital city of Salzburg is only an hour away. The town lies at 856 m and is surrounded by big mountain ranges like the Dachstein massif in the east, Lower Tauern in the south, Hochkönig massif in the west and Tennengebirge in the north and counts approximately 2.500 inhabitants. Its location and surroundings invite active and relaxation-seeking guests alike.
Where can I obtain the “Vignette” (highway fee) for Austrian highways?
In Austria, there is a highway fee for all highways. The fee, called „Vignette“, is purchasable at petrol stations and at highway service areas. The nearest petrol stations are located at the service areas at the highway A10 Tauernautobahn.
How can I get to the Outlet Center?
The Outlet Center Eben is located directly next to A10 Tauernautobahn and is reachable via two routes: You can reach it via the highway exits 60 Eben im Pongau in both directions. The second route is via B99 in direction Hüttau, turning right at junction Gasthofberg. Follow the road in direction Gasthofsiedlung. Turn right again at Gewerbegebiet Gasthof Süd. The Outlet Center is located to your right side after approximately 400m. For navigation, please use this address: Gewerbegebiet Gasthof Süd 181, 5531 Eben im Pongau.
Where can I find ATMs / cash dispensers (Bankomat) in Eben im Pongau?
In the town center, there are two ATMs: at Raiffeisenbank, Dorfplatz 71, and at supermarket Sparmarkt Gsenger, Hauptstraße 44. The ATM at Raiffeisenbank is accessible with EC-card daily from 05:00 to 00:00 o’clock, the one at Sparmarkt Gsenger at the respective opening hours of the supermarket.

During summer, you also have the possibility to obtain the SalzburgerLand Card. This All-Inclusive-Card is available for 6 or 12 days and offers free entry to about 180 attractions in SalzburgerLand. You can find all attractions here. The card is obtainable online or at the tourist office Eben im Pongau. Many Lakes & Pools, Mountain Lifts, museums, and more are included, and with such a broad offer, every day can become a unique experience. In addition, you can also use the card for receiving the Salzburg-Card for 24 hours or enjoy a ride at Großglockner Alpine Road. You can find all attractions and prices here.
Summer
What to do in Eben im Pongau in summertime?
In Eben im Pongau, you can choose from a broad range of activities: impressive hiking routes, bike tours or a chill day at Eben’s swimming lake. Every week, there are also different guided experiences, like alpaca hikes, herbal kitchen, a guided hike to Gerzkopf mountain or a relaxing yoga session at Moosalm or the swimming lake. Children can discover the animals of our forests along the KITIWAPF, a children’s hiking trail. As you can see, there is a lot to discover and to experience.
Which special family offers are there in Eben im Pongau?
In Eben im Pongau there are many family-suiting offers. Many hiking trails and biking tours are easy to medium, so children can go on adventures as well. Eben’s swimming lake offers a day full of action and fun. At alpaca farm Königshof, children and adults can get to know those special animals and their life at the farm. Big adventurers and little discoverers can scout out along the KITIWAPF children’s hiking trail to get to know the animals of our forests.
Are the huts also accessible by car?

Swimming Lake
Is there a swimming lake in Eben im Pongau?
Yes. Eben’s swimming lake, called “Erlebnisbadesee Eben”, is open from June to the end of September, daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., at fine weather conditions. You can find further information here.
Are dogs allowed at the swimming lake Erlebnisbadesee Eben?
Unfortunately, dogs are not allowed at the swimming lake.

Hiking
Which hiking tours are there in Eben im Pongau?
For hiking lovers, there are plenty of different hiking tours, on a length of 80 km. They lead to huts, mountain restaurants and mountains. You can find all tours, from easy to difficult, here.

Are there themed trails for children in Eben im Pongau?
In Eben, there is a themed hiking trail especially for children: the KITIWAPF. The name KITIWAPF comes from Kinder-Tiere-Wander-Pfad (Children-Animals-Hiking-Trail). On this trail, there are many stations, at which all hikers can discover different forest animals. With a stamping booklet in your hands, you can collect the animals’ footprints along the trail. If you find all footprints, a little surprise awaits at both goals, Moosalm or Reitlehenalm. There are two different trails with different difficulties: one easy trail, called Entdeckerweg (discovery trail) for smaller children and a medium trail for the bigger ones, called Abenteurerweg (adventure trail). Where can I get a hiking map of the region?
Visit our tourism office for any information, brochures and maps. Along them, you will also find a hiking map of Salzburger Sportwelt, with many hiking recommendations. The brochures are available at our opening hours or you can order all required brochures before your holiday online. Also ask your host, if they have any helpful brochures at your accommodation.
Are there guided hiking tours in Eben im Pongau?
During summertime, we offer a guided hike to Gerzkopf every Thursday. On Tuesdays, you can participate in an interesting herbal hike, called “Wilde Kräuterküche” (=wild herbs kitchen). During wintertime, we offer guided snowshoe hikes and ski tours as well as guided incense hikes and torch hikes.
Where is the starting point of the Gerzkopf hiking tour?
The starting point for the Gerzkopf hike is located next to the Knapp farm (Schattbachwinkel 35, 5531 Eben im Pongau). You can best reach it by car – please use the designated parking lots only.
Which huts are open in summer?
During summertime, Reitlehenalm, Buchsteinalm and Moosalm at monte popolo and Schäferhütte at Gerzkopf are open. In general, they are open from June to September. Please check closing days and exact dates online or contact us for more information.
Is there a hiking bus in Eben im Pongau?
In Eben im Pongau and all of Salzburger Sportwelt, you can use the busses as hiking bus. With the Salzburger Sportwelt Card, you can use the bus for only € 1,- per ride from May to October. You can check out the bus timetables here.

KITIWAPF
What is KITIWAPF?
The name KITIWAPF comes from Kinder-Tiere-Wander-Pfad (Children-Animals-Hiking-Trail). On this trail, there are many stations, at which all hikers can discover different forest animals. When are the opening days of KITIWAPF?
In the summertime, KITIWAPF is open from end of May until end of September. In the wintertime, you can find the animals along the children’s slope in the skiing area monte popolo.
Where does the KITIWAPF start?
As there are two different trails, there are also two different starting points. To get to the start of the easier one called “Entdecker-Weg”, you cross both Kreistsiedlung and Haidsiedlung until you reach hiking route Nr. 12. If you travel by car, you can park at Park + Ride Eben.
The second starting point is located at monte popolo parking. From here, go in direction of the town center and turn to the right just before crossing the train tracks into Pöttlergasse. Follow the sings and you will reach the first animal stations soon.
Is there a parking possibility for KITIWAPF discovery trail (Entdecker-Weg)?
The nearest parking possibility for the discovery trail is located at Eben Park & Ride parking. From here, you can reach the KITIWAPF starting point via Haidsiedling after a 30 minutes walk.
What are the opening days of Moosalm and Reitlehenalm?
Moosalm and Reitlehenalm at monte popolo in Eben im Pongau are open in both summer and winter season. In the summertime, Moosalm is closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, Reitlehenalm is closed on Mondays. In the wintertime, they are open daily.

Where can I register for the Alpaca hike?

Are there Alpaca hikes in winter as well?
Königshof Alpaca does not offer Alpaca hikes in winter, as they prefer to keep their alpacas inside during the cold season.
Bike
Which mountain bike tracks are there in Eben im Pongau?
There are five designated mountain bike tracks starting in Eben im Pongau. Additionally, you can find many more in all of Salzburger Sportwelt, from easy to medium and difficult. For mountain bike enthusiasts, Stoneman Taurista will be the biggest mountain bike challenge in our region. You can find all mountain bike tracks here.
Is there a bike rent in Eben im Pongau?
You can rent E-Bikes at our local sports store Sport 2000 Klieber. You can find the store at the monte popolo station, Hauptstraße 387, 5531 Eben im Pongau. Across the region, there are many shops and rental services, where you can also rent regular mountain bikes and trekking bikes.
Are there enough charging stations for my e-bike?
In Eben im Pongau as well as the other towns across the Salzburger Sportwelt, there are charging stations for e-bikes. You can find a list of all charging stations here.
Skiing
When does monte popolo ski area open?
The skiing area of Eben im Pongau, monte popolo, is open from end of December to end of March, depending on snow conditions. You can find more information here.
Can I purchase Ski Amadé ALL-In Card White (season pass) in Eben im Pongau?
Yes, at the cash desk at monte popolo at the opening hours.
Is there a ski bus in Eben im Pongau?
Yes, there is a ski bus which is free for all skiers, snowboarders and ski tour enthusiasts. The ski bus operates from across Eben im Pongau to monte popolo and from monte popolo to Flachau Spacejet. Find more information about the ski bus and its timetable here.
Is there a ski school in Eben im Pongau?
Yes, Skischule Eben will show children and adults alike how to ski and what’s important on the slopes, in groups or private lessons. They also offer other lessons: snowboarding, SMX-biking, backcountry skiing or cross-country skiing. If you also have to rent any equipment, they offer special combination deals in cooperation with local sports shop Sport 2000 Klieber. More information here.

Skitour
When does the ski tour at monte popolo open?
The groomed ski tour track at monte popolo is open at the operating times of the lift. The skiing area and its ski tour track are open from end of December until end of March, depending on snow conditions. You can find more information here.

Activities off the slopes
Which off-the-slopes-activities are there in Eben im Pongau?
Eben im Pongau offers more than just skiing and snowboarding in winter.
Cross-country skiers can enjoy regularly groomed tracks in Eben im Pongau and the whole region. You can enter the 60 km long Tauernloipe in Eben im Pongau or just have a short session at Pöttlerloipe or Ortsloipe. You can find all cross-country-skiing tracks here. Along the cross-country-skiing tracks, you can also find winter hiking paths, leading near and far.
Once every week, we offer a guided torch hike through our snowy town, and incense hikes, where sisters Katharina and Brigitte introduce you to alpine incense traditions and different combinations of scents and herbs during an atmospheric walk over the snowy fields at Königshof. There are also some snowshoe hiking trails, and you can participate in a guided snowshoe-hike or ski tour as well. You can find more information about our weekly offers and all other events here.
