Hike to the Gerzkopf with a local

Once a week, you can explore the breathtaking Gerzkopf Nature Reserve together with a local. Together you will walk past the legendary "Black Ponds" in which a golden wagon is said to have sunken, high up to the summit cross and the old wishing bell. Once you reach the summit, a gigantic view opens up over the Tennengebirge, the Niedere and Hohe Tauern, the Gosaukamm, the Dachstein massif and the striking Bischofsmütze.

The hike is ideal for everyone who would like to experience the nature around Eben im Pongau together with others. Participation is at your own responsibility. Suitable equipment and a realistic self-assessment of your own physical condition are required.

You need hiking shoes with good grip, weather-appropriate clothing and sufficient drinks are required to take part in the hike. Please note: Participation in the hike is not possible without suitable equipment.

Rain or sun protection, a small snack and, depending on the weather, warm additional clothing are also recommended.

The mountain is calling...

Unique nature reserve Gerzkopf

View from the summit to the Black Ponds

The Gerzkopf is considered a fascinating natural jewel in the middle of the Fritztal grass mountains.

Because of its valuable and rare habitats - including the moor waters, the so called „Black Ponds", which occure in the entire province of Salzburg - it was declared a European protected area in 2006 and integrated into the European Natura 2000 network.
